The pride of this mountainous region started with the establishment of Karnatic Coffee Plantation Company by Mr. K Gopalsamy Mudaliar in the year 1846. Unfortunately, the business did not yield any profit. Hence, they were forced to sell most of the lands they owned. Moreover, the British invasion led to the construction of roads and guest houses and acquired a huge portion of land with an aim to start various coffee and tea plantations.
